Project Description

FIBRO VULCANO

Vulcanized fiber base paper for the production of vulcanized fiber

Our raw vulcanized fiber papers are further processed in an elaborate manufacturing process at specialized vulcanized fiber factories. They are then used in a wide range of applications – including grinding discs, gaskets, looms, packaging materials, as well as technical materials for demanding fields such as X-ray technology. Vulcanized fiber, also known as “green plastic,” was once displaced from the market by synthetic plastics and is now experiencing an impressive revival.

FAQ

What is FibroVulcano?2026-02-23T16:31:28+01:00

FibroVulcano is our specialty base paper for producing Vulkanfiber. Vulkanfiber is a robust, fiber-reinforced material that is used in a wide range of applications, such as grinding discs, gaskets, looms, packaging, and technical applications like X-ray technology. It formerly replaced certain plastic products and is now experiencing a strong revival, often referred to as “green plastic.”

How is Vulkanfiber produced?2026-02-23T16:32:02+01:00

Vulkanfiber is made from several layers of special cotton or cellulose base papers. These layers are immersed in a bath of concentrated zinc chloride or sulfuric acid. The fibers swell and chemically bond together—without any additional binders—forming a homogeneous, solid mass. After pressing out the acid, thorough washing, and drying, a stable and durable material is obtained that can be further processed for various applications.

What colors and grades are available?2026-02-23T16:32:17+01:00

FibroVulcano is available in several colors, including red, white, olive, and brown. The base papers are made of cotton, cellulose, or a combination of both. They vary in weight, thickness, and density, allowing them to be tailored to different applications such as gaskets, technical parts, or packaging.

What is FibroVulcano used for?2026-02-23T16:33:00+01:00
  • Grinding discs
  • Gaskets and technical components
  • Looms and textile applications
  • Packaging materials
  • Specialized technical applications, e.g., X-ray technology
What makes FibroVulcano special?2026-02-23T16:33:16+01:00
  • High stability and durability
  • Chemically bonded without binders – long-lasting and reliable
  • Environmentally friendly: partially replaces plastic products
  • Available in different colors, thicknesses, and densities for customized applications
